iPhone gets a Sega Genesis App?

Sega is bringing the ultimate collection Genesis app next month due in part to the In-App purchase. The app basically works as an emulator *i know y'all remember those snes9x days...hahaha and the wgens =)*, and ultimate collection will be free. However, other downloads you will have to pay. When the app goes live, the following games will be available:

Sonic the Hedgehog - $5.99
Golden Axe - $4.99
Ecco the Dolphin - $2.99
Shining Force - $2.99

There are certain issues with pricing - hmm...6 bucks for Sonic on an iPhone *not soooo much* - it definitely should be cheaper. I can understand 3 dollars at most, but oh well. We shall see what happens in the future =).

Always be thankful

I'm just watching the Oprah episode with Wyclef that I missed earlier. All I have to say is props to Wyclef for not only taking a stand, but flying straight down to his country the NEXT day. For all the people ridiculing him and saying he's profiting off this, that is a bunch of bullshit. His own country...he's been with an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) for years now. I love Wyclef for this, because he's been saying things about Haiti for a long time now - not just this Earthquake ordeal. For a 3rd generation Caribbean, I know what it is to feel a certain way in a certain country. I'm currently gaining back all the culture I should've gotten earlier. However, that's another topic.

What I have to say is I'm very blessed and thankful I have all the things I need. Surviving off $1 a day is straight impossible for any human being. And I know things are worse in other countries..I understand that. And I dont knock anyone for saying this. It just holds a special place in my heart because Haiti is so close to the Bahamas - where my grandfather is from. I also give Haiti the utmost respect for being the 1st Caribbean country that gained it's freedom in 1803.

You see why the Haitians have soo much pride. All my love and respect goes to Haiti. It's not a separate thing..not just a Bahamas vs Dominican Republic vs Haiti vs Cuba vs Puerto Rico vs Trinidad vs Jamaica thing. It's not just a Caribbean vs Black vs African thing. This affects everyone. We are all people. So please do go and donate whatever you have. Seriously? Go do it now! I'll post a widget where you can donate.

You can either text 501501 and $5 will be added to your phone bill. You can go to http://www.yele.org (Wyclef's foundation) and donate there (I donated to that earlier in the week). You can also go to http://www.care.org/ Please donate whatever you can! Whether it'd be clothes, food, or any other supplies. Every little bit helps.

The way of a b-boy is like the way of the samurai

Here is one of my favorite b-boys (K-mel from Boogie Brats crew)speaking some real shit that I think people need to hear. This b-boy *break dance* thing is more than a hobby or just something I like to do. I breathe, eat, and shit this like it's my last breath, word up! Listen to what he has to say. He definitely drops some bombs.

Random: Power naps = increased productivity

I was talking to a friend on facebook just jokingly because he said that if he had a nap...that would increase the amount of productivity in his work environment instead of utlizing him for every penny's worth. I said to him "Move to Europe" lolol. Seriously, though...Europe has an interesting working system. They do not work the constant 9-5 that Americans work. Another thing, they get longer/better paid vacations. The result more productivity overall and less jobs lost. Hmm. That brought me to read these articles. I'ma late night kind of dude but I do take sporadic naps throughout the day.

Anyway, check the articles out. It's just food for thought.

A few joints i'm feeling

Here is Mos Def's History video featuring Talib Kweli. I think it's a really dope video. I love black and white videos. The lighting is really dope, and I like the imagery (Muhammad Ali..amongst other things). Mos Def and Talib Kweli always make a dope team together. The vibe is really classy....it shows different sites of NYC - like Brooklyn, etc. Mos Def imho is a very underrated artist - it sucks in this world of ringtone rap and catchy hooks and dances - that true raw to the bone art is pushed back. However, I'm glad cuz the ones that do have more than just ears and eyes can truly see the precious gems in these music videos. Props to Mos Def for doing his thing.

The next joint I wanna get into is Jay-Z's "On to the Next One" ft Swizz Beats. This video is stirring up a lot of controversy due to it's "seemingly" satanic/demonic/occult images, but that's truly not the case. I feel it's more of a mock off of everyone saying that he practices masonry. But more importantly, it's a tribute to another black artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (R.I.P.). I think the video is really dope - the black and white, the lighting is really crisp, the images are ill, the different costumes, and just the flow of the video. It's just a really classy/cool/urban but retro vibe. I think Sam Brown definitely did his thing on this video. Jay-Z is coming toward the beginning of the Fall (Season) of his life. And you can definitely the finesse he has with his style and the maturity he's bring with age and longevity in the music world. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for not only the Blueprint, but the next LP he's working on. Props.

The last one for now is Timbaland's "Say Something" featuring Drake. First off, Timbo is a legend in the game producing for tons and tons of ppl like Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Madonna and Aaliyah (R.I.P.) so you already know his music catalog is beyond on point. I will say that although this is not Timbo's most impressive track, the simplicity of the song makes it shine by itself. The beat is simplistic but it's infectious. Not only that, Drake's vocals on the song fit perfectly. The hook is also nice, so I'm definitely feeling this. A lot of people are knocking Drake because of the accolades he's getting without releasing an official album, and I can understand that. All I'm saying is give this dude a chance...he's coming from a different perspective. I don't put him in my top 10 or even 20 fav emcees, but I think he's got some good material. And if he keeps putting out consistent songs and stays true to himself - I think he has the chance for some longevity. I'm not just getting on the bandwagon, either. I've been a rebel since day one, but I will say this - I've been listening to this cat since "Comeback Season" in 2006-2007. This was before mad ppl knew who the hell he was, and I've watched Degrassi since 2001. This kid got talent. So check out the vid....
